The future of tech will include more of us than ever before. Though overall representation of black people in tech is stagnant, our footprint on the evolution of the tech industry grows year after year.Â
In recognition of Juneteenth we brought together 4 of the leading voices in tech to discuss what it will take to increase our collective ownership in the future of this industry.
Arlan Hamilton, Michael Seibel, Mandela Schumacher-Hodge Dixon, and Jarrid Tingle discussed tactical and practical ways you can set yourself up to launch, join, lead, or invest in the next tech ecosystem.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19th, 1865 when Texas became the last state to symbolically emancipate their slaves two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Juneteenth was made a state holiday in Texas in 1980 and has since been celebrated across the nation as Freedom Day for Black identifying Americans.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the first state recognized celebration of Juneteenth.
